Virgin Atlantic has signed an agreement with Neste Oyi to purchase 2.5 million liters of sustainable aviation fuel, which will be delivered in the first half of 2022 to London Heathrow Airport, the carrier announced. ExxonMobil, Virgin Atlantic’s largest fuel supplier at Heathrow, will manage the delivery.
The agreement represents the first commercial supply of SAF for Virgin Atlantic, which has set a target of using 10 percent of SAF for its flights by 2030. The airline also has committed to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
