Ruby Group is to continue its expansion in Europe with the opening of its first hotel in Amsterdam next month.

The latest addition, Ruby Emma, will see the group take over an existing hotel offering 288 rooms across 21 floors. The hotel will open in two stages with the rooms available from May followed by dining outlets in September.

The hotel’s public areas are also being redesigned by Ruby Group using sustainable materials.

Ruby Emma is based in the city’s Amstelkwartier district and the building was the first in Europe to become LEED Platinum certified in 2018 for its sustainable construction and energy efficient systems.

The Munich-based hotel group, which was founded by CEO Michael Struck in 2013, currently has 13 Ruby hotels with a further 22 properties under construction or in planning.

Julian Mors, Ruby’s group director development, said: “Ruby’s lean luxury philosophy addresses a growing niche in Amsterdam’s highly competitive hotel market.

“In addition, Ruby Emma differentiates itself in the market through its exceptional sustainability, not least thanks to its unique building technology.”
