PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg-Belpre Bridge was partially closed for nearly two hours Monday afternoon due to storm-related issues, officials said.
A thunderstorm that moved through the Parkersburg area Monday afternoon may have been responsible for the closure of the bridge between Belpre and Parkersburg.
The bridge was partially closed for two hours, from around 3:50 p.m. to 5:40 p.m., when it re-opened.
According to Will Boye at MONPower, “We have a broken pole, and we have crews onsite to make the repairs as quickly and safely as we can.”
Boye also said he believes the damage was weather related, and that the lines were suspended off the ground and no power was lost in the area.
The pole broke in the area of Ann and Garfield streets, Boye said, and even though there were no outages in the area at the time, the bridge was closed for safety reasons.
