Emirates has resumed double daily flights from Gatwick to Dubai as demand has surged for the route in recent weeks.
The Middle Eastern airline only restored the route from Gatwick in December 2021 – adding a second daily flight from 8 February means Emirates is now operating 91 weekly services from the UK.
Emirates’ moves to ramp up services in the UK have also included reopening its lounge at Gatwick, which is open to both first and business class passengers.
Richard Jewsbury, divisional vice president at Emirates UK, said: “We have seen a considerable uptick in demand for international travel in recent weeks, particularly from the south-east and are pleased to be expanding our operations from Gatwick.
“Emirates is fully committed to the UK and we have operated flights from the airport for over 30 years, providing vital connectivity to Dubai and across our international network for passengers travelling for business, leisure or to visit loved ones.”
Emirates is now serving 120 destinations from its Dubai hub, which is close to 90 per cent of its pre-Covid network.
